Day 6, Central Java: Chillin' at the villa

There isn't much to report today. It was our last day at Villa Borobudur, and we were sad to be leaving. Although some other good things await, this three days in Villa Menoreh, with it's private pool and dining, will be one of the true highlights of the trip and one of the things we remember for years. Accordingly, we spent the morning enjoying our facilities. We slept in just a bit, had a light breakfast, and then relaxed outdoors--some of that time in the pool (including treading water as a sorry excuse for some exercise).

Front door of our villa
Ceiling of the dining pavilion
Snacks always available. The plantain and peanut chips are addictive!
Our private open-air dining room
Complimentary cold beverages ready when needed
There's even a TV room with blu-ray player for watching movies
After on last delicious lunch, we packed up and said our goodbyes to the staff. I haven't mentioned it here, but the staff are just as wonderful as the facility!

The drive back to Yogyakarta took about an hour and a half. We are happy to have had Villa Borobudur's air-conditioned transfer--this is not easy driving!

We checked into our home for the next four nights: the historic Phoenix Hotel. Our two adjacent rooms are in the building with rooms facing the pool; one of them has a small balcony.

We went for a nice long walk down Jalan Malioboro, the major shopping street, and past the train station into some smaller streets filled with small hotels and restaurants. Somewhere along the way, my Fitbit went missing :( But, there is no doubt I'm getting in plenty of steps).

We weren't particularly hungry for dinner, but we were very thirsty. The Phoenix Hotel has a nice happy hour with 50 percent off drinks in the Vino Bar, so that worked out quite well. We enjoyed several rounds and some appetizers and called it a night. Tomorrow will be a much busier day.
