The drive back to Yogyakarta took about an hour and a half. We are happy to have had Villa Borobudur's air-conditioned transfer--this is not easy driving!
We checked into our home for the next four nights: the historic Phoenix Hotel. Our two adjacent rooms are in the building with rooms facing the pool; one of them has a small balcony.
We went for a nice long walk down Jalan Malioboro, the major shopping street, and past the train station into some smaller streets filled with small hotels and restaurants. Somewhere along the way, my Fitbit went missing :( But, there is no doubt I'm getting in plenty of steps).
We weren't particularly hungry for dinner, but we were very thirsty. The Phoenix Hotel has a nice happy hour with 50 percent off drinks in the Vino Bar, so that worked out quite well. We enjoyed several rounds and some appetizers and called it a night. Tomorrow will be a much busier day.
